What are Jasper Recipes?
In short, Jasper Recipes are pre-built workflows that contain a number of Jasper Commands that act as a template to help you build AI content even faster.
Just as a regular food recipe contains a series of instructions on how to make a food dish, Jasper Recipes contain a series of Jasper Commands that, when run in order, will allow you to create all types of content faster than you ever have before.
If you aren’t exactly sure what Jasper Commands are, they’re essentially a way of telling Jasper what you want him to write.
For example, if you wanted Jasper to write an intro paragraph for your blog post, you used to have to open up Power Mode, choose the “Blog Post Intro Paragraph” template, fill in all the information about it, generate the AI content, and then copy and paste your favorite intro paragraph into your long-form editor.
Now, with Jasper Commands, you can simply type “Write an intro paragraph for a blog post titled [title].” into your long-form editor and run the Jasper Command and Jasper will read your command and create a blog post intro paragraph for you within seconds.
If you haven’t read my other Jasper tutorials teaching you how to write epic blog posts with Jasper or how to use Jasper Boss Mode, you should read them as they will help you understand how to drastically improve your writing with Jasper AI.
That being said, if you have read those posts, you’ll see that I teach you how to use Jasper Commands one by one to create content such as blog posts.
With Jasper Recipes, I can take all of those Jasper Commands and put them in order, and publish them as a Jasper Recipe so users simply have to run each command to create content.
For example, if I were creating a blog post, the series of Jasper Commands you would run might look like this:
- Write a content brief about {TOPIC}
- Write blog post title ideas.
- Write an intro paragraph.
- Write a blog post outline.
- Write about {OUTLINE_ITEM_1}.
- Write about {OUTLINE_ITEM_2}.
- Write about {OUTLINE_ITEM_3}.
- Write a conclusion paragraph.
You can build your own Jasper Recipe (which I’ll show you how to do later in the post) or you can use any of the Jasper Recipes created by the community like the one I listed above.
Let’s go over how to use Jasper Recipes so you can unleash the true power of Jasper AI copywriting.
How to Use Jasper Recipes
Before we begin, I should note that in order to use Jasper Recipes, you will have to make sure your Jasper account is upgraded to the Boss Mode plan. Jasper Recipes use a series of Jasper Commands in order to work and Jasper Commands are only available by activating Boss Mode.
Assuming that your Jasper account is all set up for using Boss Mode, it’s time to dig in and teach you step-by-step how to use Jasper Recipes for more productive AI writing.
1. Choose Jasper Recipe
First and foremost, you’ll need to decide which Jasper Recipe you want to use.
There are two options you have here – either pick one of the Jasper Featured Recipes from the Recipe page or access a Jasper Recipe from the community.
In order to see the list of Jasper Featured Recipes, simply click on the “Recipes” page from the Jasper application.
From there, you’ll be brought to the Recipes page where you’ll see a list of Jasper Featured Recipes to choose from.
If you want to use one of the Jasper Featured Recipes, hover over the recipe you want to use and click “Open recipe” (kinda sounds like open sesame 😂). Then, move on to step 2.
Otherwise, if you have the URL to a Jasper Recipe from the community (many amazing ones can be found by searching the Jasper Facebook Group), then simply open up the URL and move on to step 2.
2. Run Jasper Recipe
After you open the Jasper Recipe that you want to use, you’ll see a paragraph explaining what the recipe does and what it’s used for.
Then, you’ll see an area showing the recipe including all of the Jasper Commands.
In the example shown below, I chose the Jasper “Blog Post” featured recipe.
The next step is to run your Jasper Recipe. In the upper-right of the recipe, click the “Run” button.
Once you run a Jasper Recipe, the recipe will be automatically saved to your account and the Jasper app will create a brand new document for you automatically with the Jasper Recipe copied over already.
Here is what the Jasper blog post featured recipe looks like copied over to the long-form editor:
After you have run your Jasper Recipe and the recipe has been copied over to the long-form editor as a new document, it’s time to move on to step 3.
3. Replace Recipe Variables
Most Jasper recipes are going to have what are called variables in them.
Each variable is denoted by the curly braces. So, in the blog post recipe example, you can see variables such as {TOPIC}, {OUTLINE_ITEM_1}, {OUTLINE_ITEM_2}, etc.
Replace each of these variables with the items that fit the type of content you’re wanting to write about and create.
Keep in mind that some of these variables will not be able to be filled in until we run some of the Jasper Commands.
For example, if you already know what your blog post outline is going to be, you can replace those variables.
However, Jasper can create a blog post outline automatically for you as you can see in the Jasper Command, “Write a blog outline.”
After Jasper creates your blog post outline, you would then replace the variables for each “OUTLINE_ITEM.”
I go into much more detail on how to create blog posts that rank on Google in my Jasper blog post tutorial if you want to dig even deeper.
You’ll learn how to run each of these Jasper Commands in the next step.
4. Run Jasper Commands
As I mentioned before, Jasper Recipes are simply a series of predefined Jasper Commands that, when run in order, allow you to create AI content faster than ever.
Now that you have your desired Jasper Recipe copied over into a new document and you’re in the long-form editor, it’s time to follow the recipe’s instructions in order by running the Jasper Commands it contains.
In order to run Jasper Commands, make sure your cursor is at the end of the line and then run the Jasper Command by using the keyboard shortcut “Cmd + Enter” on Mac or “Ctrl + Enter” on Windows.
Going back to the blog post Jasper recipe, say I want to write a blog post about how to grow your business online.
After replacing all the variables with the content you want to create, you can begin running each of the Jasper Commands in order.
- Write a content brief about how to grow your business online
- Write blog post title ideas
- Write an intro paragraph
- Write a blog post outline (take these outline points and fill in the OUTLINE_ITEM variables as shown below)
- Write about starting a blog to bring in traffic
- Write about using social media to make connections and drive traffic to your site
- Write about investing in paid advertisement with Facebook Ads and Google Adwords
After running each of the commands in order for your Jasper Recipe, you should have most of your content generated for you by Jasper AI.
Time to move on to step 5!
5. Add More Content (if needed)
After you have run all the Jasper Commands for your recipe, chances are you’ll still need to generate more content especially if you’re creating content such as a blog post.
If you want Jasper to continue composing content, simply place your cursor where you want Jasper to write more and press the “Compose” button or use the keyboard shortcut “Cmd + J” on Mac or “Ctrl + J” on Windows.
Jasper will read your previous 2000-3000 characters to gather context and continue writing more content for you. This 2000-3000 character lookback is a major perk of using Boss Mode whereas, on the Starter plan, Jasper can only read the previous 600 characters.
To get even better results, you can lead Jasper by using transition words to start your sentences.
I explain transition words in more detail in my Jasper blog post tutorial, but here’s a list of transition words that help Jasper create even better content:
- First of all…
- As a matter of fact…
- In other words…
- For example…
- In my experience…
- Some of the main benefits of [topic] are…
- Another example of [topic] is…
- Lastly…
- In conclusion…
- To summarize my point…
If there’s something specific that you want Jasper to write about, you can be even more specific with your transitions.
For example, “Even though [benefit 1] is very important when considering [topic], [benefit 2] can also help greatly by…” and then hit the “Compose” button and watch as Jasper produces excellent output related to the transition sentence you just used.
Once you have generated all the content you need, give yourself a pat on the back because you just successfully learned how to use Jasper Recipes for really fast AI writing!
How to Create Your Own Jasper Recipe
Now let’s go over how to create your own Jasper Recipe from your Recipes page.
Follow these steps to create your own Jasper Recipe:
- Open the Recipes page from the Jasper app.
- Click the “New recipe” button.
- Fill out Title.
- Fill out Description (optional).
- Write out your Jasper Commands.
If you want to make it even easier for others to understand how to use your Jasper Recipe, you can create a YouTube video and then paste the link in the “YouTube explainer video URL” box which gives users an easy way to view your Jasper Recipe tutorial. Keep in mind, this YouTube URL is completely optional and you do not have to create a video if you don’t want to.
Jasper Recipe Formatting
When creating your own Jasper Recipe, there are a couple of formatting options you should know about to make sure others use your recipe correctly.
You should denote Jasper Commands within a recipe by placing the “>” character before each command.
>write a list of the best controllers for gaming
You should denote variables within a recipe by wrapping the variable name with curly braces.
>write an intro paragraph about {BLOG_POST_TOPIC}
These variables will then be replaced by the users who are using your Jasper recipe.
How to Delete Jasper Recipes
If you are wondering how to delete a Jasper Recipe from your Recipes page, it’s very easy.
Follow these steps to delete a Jasper Recipe:
- Open the Recipes page from the Jasper app.
- Click “Edit” on the Jasper recipe that you want to delete.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Jasper Recipe and choose the “Delete” button.
That Jasper Recipe will now be removed from your list of Jasper Recipes!
Conclusion
That’s a wrap, folks! I hope this Jasper Recipe tutorial helped you learn how to master writing AI with Jasper and that you can begin creating content even faster than before.
Have you used Jasper Recipes to speed up your writing? If so, what do you think of them? Are there any features the Jasper team could add to make recipes even better?
